Is My Disinfectant Working?
Most people seem to know the guidelines the CDC is recommending to prevent getting sick. Some of the updates to prevent the seasonal flu include social distancing and wearing masks when around others. One should also continue to regularly wash hands with soap, avoid close contact with those not in your household, cover your mouth/nose when coughing or sneezing, and to regularly monitor your health. Lastly, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly! For more details visit the CDC website.
When trying to stay safe and healthy, regularly using disinfectant wipes seems to be the simplest solution to effectively clean high-touch areas. When I was recently at the bank, each customer kept 6-feet of distance between each other in line. But I noticed that after each customer, the tellers were wiping down their areas with a disinfectant wipe. This practice is not only time-consuming, but it is also wasteful. It is incredibly important for disinfectants to be effective to follow the manufacturer’s directions that can normally be located on the back of the container. In this case, the directions clearly state to “use enough wipes for treated surface to remain visibly wet for 4 minutes.” (Clorox)
