Clean Start for a New Year
2021 has just begun and with COVID-19 vaccine underway, people are looking forward to a time when we can gather again in public spaces for work, school and entertainment.
How can you reassure the public that your facility is clean, safe and healthy? It will be critical to prepare for a new standard of clean and to ease fears about virus transmission through effective disinfecting and clear communication about your cleaning protocols.
As a member of the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) we value their guidelines and highly recommend that their program of Confidence Cleaning for the next phase of COVID-19 recovery be followed.
The ISSA’s Global Biorisk Advisory Council has created this plan and outlined the following key steps for site risk assessment. (Read more about Confidence Cleaning information and strategies here.)
Step 1: Identify the hazards such as site areas, objects or high-touch surfaces.
Step 2: Assess the risk associated with each commonly touched surface.
Step 3: Prioritize the risks from low to high.
Step 4: Determine the cleaning and disinfection process, frequencies and equipment.
Step 5: Audit the cleaning and make adjustments.
Your attention to proper cleaning and disinfecting will enable your facility to kick-start its recovery more quickly from this pandemic’s economic impact. And, the steps you take now can improve and sustain your occupants’ health and productivity long after this pandemic has subsided.
